Amidst

Within the hour – you shall not cower.

Hold your head high, while clouds drift with the sky;

The walls so mighty and the roads so long.

As heavy as each stone,

Placed upon your bones;

You will rise and survive.

They talk & they will rock the ground you keep,

Till it shatters below;

Creating war from afar.

Stay there amidst the darkness that will surface,

Among the slithering words on the wall.

Look into the light – say your name

With strength – believe it

    Ky, this is a beautiful poem, truly. I have to say, though, to me (silly, stupid me) that it is an even more beautiful poem without the first stanza. Forgive me if I overstep my bounds. But it neither has the flow nor the gravitas of what follows it.

      Oh John! Never think your thoughts are stupid or silly! I appreciate them either way!

      I re-read it and saw what you meant. I think I will remove it, as it was late when I posted. Everything seems better when it’s late ha-ha! I had originally intended it to mean like sin, [Eve, Adam, Tree, Apples] lol but reading it over I agree with you.

      Thank you so much for telling me your honest opinions! I love that!

Express your thoughts =)
