Here’s what Spotlight is about; it’s an interview that promotes you! It will feature questions that are formatted to your needs. Questions will be focused on your work, upcoming work and some personal [but not intrusive] questions for your fans to get to know you more!
Tell us about yourself I’m 26, a single mom to a wonderful little girl and a kitty, I love books and hate doing laundry. I started writing at 12 but didn’t take it seriously until I was 25. I hope to be a best seller one of these days.
Share with us some of your interests Books, animals, movies, crafts, cooking.
What makes you the person you are? This is a hard question…uhh…well God just made me the way I am and that’s that. I don’t know that there’s any specific thing that makes me “Felicia” but all the quirks together.
About your writing;
When did you start writing? When I was 12. I got bored in History class!
What inspires you to write? My daughter is my ultimate inspiration. As for the actual stories, I usually have dreams about them.
How has writing change you as a person? Following my dream has made me a much happier person. I love that I’m doing what I’ve always wanted to and it’s a great feeling!
Adding some fun;
If you spend the rest of your life in a novel or novel series, what novel would it be and why? Is it obnoxious to pick my own series? I love my characters and I know my way around there well!
Share a couple of your favorite things and or things you like? Books, music, animals
What couldn’t you live without? My daughter!
In the literacy world who do you think is a misunderstood character and why? Snape was very misunderstood until the end…I love how Rowling did that.
Have you read anything that made you think differently about writing? Haha yes I have…some good, some bad. Words have so much power.
Is there a character that annoys you in the literacy world? Or even one of your own? I have one I’m writing about that I can’t stand…and I can’t think of any off the top of my head besides the one I just read about in Blood Debt by Nancy Straight, the grandma, Zandra, was horrible.
What do you look for in a publishing company as they will end up representing your work? I’d have to have a company that would allow me to have all the creative freedom I do now. I love choosing my covers, my editor, everything. I’m a bit of a control freak.
How do you stay confident in yourself especially by putting yourself out there in the internet world? Honestly, I look at my positive reviews, look back on conversations I’ve had with some amazing people that read my work. Having fans is amazing and it makes me see that people enjoy my writing. Not everyone will, but it’s so wonderful when people do.
How do you handle rejection? What advice can you offer to moving past it? Well, first I cry. Then I suck it up and forget about it. I advise…talking to someone who has been through it and then forgetting about it.
Do you have any advice to give to aspiring writers? Write, write, write! Connect, network, and have fun!
Featuring your work and or upcoming work;
Tell us about your book [s] My first two books, The White Aura and The Vessel, are part of a YA fantasy/paranormal romance series. I’m currently working on a romance novel, Mangled Hearts, set to release July 12th.
Who is your favorite character and why? [If you can share without spoiling your work] Oh, gosh. I guess if I had to choose…I’d pick Sadie from The White Aura series because she’s blunt and fun. In Mangled Hearts…it’d have to be Cade. I just have a soft spot for him.
What character do you hope readers understand? I hope people understand Francesca and Cade in the upcoming novel. They both are a bit lost, hurt. Life does that to people but finding love can change you. I hope people see that they have to want to change and it’s them doing it because they want to.
Do you have a favorite part of your own book (s) ? I love when Livvie discovers what she is in The White Aura series. Her journey is fun to write.
Choosing a character or even yourself, can you give us a sample playlist of music that would follow said person?
Have you had trouble writing about any of your characters? Not trouble, per se, but some are more difficult to write than others just because they are so complex and I know what’s going on underneath, but they aren’t ready for the readers to know.
What would you like readers to get from your book (s) ? Entertainment. I want them to know all things are possible.
In your book (s) what had been the hardest challenge you’ve faced so far? In my current WIP, the MC is an alcoholic. Writing some of those scenes is really tough. And I’ve had to research a lot.
How is this world a better place because of your books? Because they’re awesome? Nah, I think I’m happier and have let people know dreams are possible, so that always makes the world better.
If you could meet any of your own characters, who would (they / it) be? Scott and Livvie!
If you had to write a scene for a character of your choice that would put them in an awkward situation how would it go? Sadie would be in an awkward position if she somehow intercepted Scott and Livvie’s dream walking. That wouldn’t go to well considering they…kiss a lot. Haha
What do you to for marketing? A lot of things! I think connecting with fans and letting them help is the best thing to do.
Promote your books in a sentence or less 🙂
(If more than one work, a sentence for EACH work, you’re not limited to one sentence for more than one piece of work.)
The White Aura: Sorcerer Scott Tabors is destined to be with Olivia Whitehead, but a curse on his family stops them from being together…or does it?
The Vessel: Follow Scott and Olivia’s journey as they conquer evil sorcerers, finding her parents, and trying to get to know each other, all while finding a way out of the dreaded curse Scott’s family holds.
Mangled Hearts: Two lost lovers are thrown back together, one hard-hearted and the other battling and addiction, only to find out things aren’t as they seem.
What are you working on now?
Mangled Hearts. Here’s the blurb: Francesca and Cade
Can two loves find their way back to each other despite an addiction and a hardened heart? Will their love overcome it all?
Francesca Taymon is young, successful, and broken. A tragic accident years ago haunts her to this day, and she blames only one person–the one that holds her heart. When she finally gets her first case, will she be able to handle seeing him again? Can she do her job and keep her heart intact?
Cade Kelling doesn’t take life seriously. He’s reckless and irresponsible, drinking all his problems away. When his parents bail him out for the last time, will he be able to handle seeing Francesca after all of these years? Will he be able to tell her what really happened that night 5 years ago or will he lose her forever?
And the most important question….
Can these mangled hearts be mended?
