About the Author:

Michelle Graves is a self-proclaimed nomad, moving every two to three years with her husband the Army man, her beautiful daughter, and a fat tailless cat named Torri. When she is not writing away trying to purge her mind of yapping characters she can be found entertaining her daughter, attempting to craft (whilst trying not to injure herself with the glue gun), baking yummy treats, or reading. She admits to having a restless spirit and forces her family to go out on adventures whenever possible. They lovingly play along.

So, I have been wracking my brain trying to come up with brilliant things to entertain you all…. and I have decided that I will talk about my all time favorite quotes from the first three books in The Chronicles of Izzy.  Obviously, some of these are from See How She Falls, so you get to sneak a peek before everyone else!

Let’s start with See How She Runs

“Catching dinner,” was all he replied before reaching into the river to pull out a fish. So, he was part bear as well. That was good to know. Maybe they didn’t have fishing poles back when he was born. I snickered to myself, imagining the first dude that invented a fishing pole and Kennan being all, “Nah I got this.”

I can say, that is honestly my favorite line form the first book… well funny line at any rate.  I just love the way Izzy sees Kennan.

Favorite serious part would have to be this:

I was now in the woods, in the dark. There were hungry sounding animals close on my trail. I ran blindly through the thick underbrush, not knowing what direction I was heading. My heart pounded in my throat as I ran and ran and ran. I felt a pull at my ankle as a wolf bit down hard. I lost my footing and tumbled over. As one, the pack of wolves moved in on me, seeking out their choice morsel. I felt them gnaw and gnash into me, as if to tear me in a thousand directions. My body came apart and I once again let the rage consume me.

Favorite funny bit:

“But Kennan,” I sighed into his back, “we have things here. What about my garden? It will die without me.” He laughed and the vibration was a comfort to my weary soul.

He turned around to look at me. His eyes full of laughter. “Izzy, your garden is already dead. I think it will do better without your constant attention. It is the brownest plot of land I have ever seen in my life. In fact, I think the local nursery has put your picture up with a ban on any future purchases. You are a plant murderer, my love.”

What have you done, Old One?” Isadora’s voice was filled with hesitancy. I knew whatever had just happened was not something that should have.

“I did what I promised. I kept her safe,” he said, never taking his eyes from me. “Now we must finish. It is time to return to your Guardian and find (name omitted to protect the secret).” He reached his hand out to me and, stunned, I took it.

See How She Falls

Favorite funny bit:

“That would be lovely.”  Damali’s Guardian bellowed.  I was convinced that the man was physically incapable of speaking at a normal decibel.  Every word out of his mouth threatened to burst my ear drums.  I wondered if anyone had ever told him about his voice modulation problem.

Favorite serious bit:

An overwhelming sense of oppression swept over me as I ran through the fog. Every moment of the past few years played out in my mind as I sought my way back home. Moments of fear and pain, moments of sadness, they all coalesced forming an impenetrable wall. It was too much, the changes happening within me, the secrets, the …terrifying truth of what my future may hold, my strength depleted, I began to fall. My resolve fled me in an instant leaving me to the unpardonable truth. My death beckoned me, pulling me deeper into the darkness. Lost to the world, I fell to my side. The truth settled around me like a cocoon, I would never be enough.
